Professional Trail Builder Education:
- Ready to work course
This fast track course gets you up to speed to enter the world of professional trail building work.
Based out of our Agueda, Portugal training location this 2 week course gets new trail builders up to speed allowing them to integrate into any jobsite.
The intensive education focuses on practical tasks and building knowledge that allows for efficient and effective trail building work.
Topics include;
Safety and Security
Tool use
Maintenance and service
Trail design and construction techniques
- Mountain Bike Trail Builder Education (30 ECTS points course)
In collaboration with our friends at Fagskolen i Viken, a Norwegian technical college, located in the mountain resort of Geilo.
In summer 2022 TrailTools.eu were awarded the contract to design and deliver Europe’s first certificated Trail Builder education program.
The two semester 30 ECTS education is provided over 10 months with a mixture of online learning, practical field work and student projects.

Volunteer Trail Builder Education:
- IMBA Europe Trail Building School
Since 2008 we have delivered the Trail Building School (TBS) program for IMBA Europe. The 2 day course teaches participants about the fundamentals of trail design and planning with a focus on sustainability.
Our instructors travel to your location creating bespoke training based on local conditions.
Please note; TBS have an Instructor to student ratio of maximum 1 Instructor :15 students. We currently have 5 trained instructors available with a maximum group size of 75 participants.

Trail Advocacy:
We are strong believers in getting access to more trails for more people. Our trail advocacy packages provide information to stakeholders educating them about the mountain bike scene, the types of trails and who uses them and how to create high quality sustainable trails in any community.
